Takam is easily Parker's biggest challenge to date with the winner of the fight becoming the mandatory challenger to the IBF belt which will be contested by Briton Anthony Joshua and American Charles Martin.

The 35-year-old said from his home in Paris where he is training that he was excited for the big fight.

Undefeated Joseph Parker (18-0, 16 KOs) will be facing #5 IBF Carlos Takam (33-2-1, 25 KOs) on May 21 in an IBF heavyweight eliminator at the Vodafone Events Centre, Manukau City in Auckland, New Zealand.

This fight will be taking place in the 24-year-old Parker’s hometown, which could help him get past the more experienced and more polished 35-year-old Takam. The winner of the Parker vs. Takam fight will become the IBF mandatory challenger to the winner of the Anthony Joshua vs. Charles Martin fight next month on April 9 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.
